The Wilder Kitchen

Fire & salt

  • In this first episode, we join chef Will Hamer of The Wilder Kitchen on a journey across the Sound of Jura in search of the season’s first mackerel. With friend and local fisherman Ross at the helm, we set out into wild waters before returning to shore to cook over open flame — a simple, soulful meal shaped by fire, salt, and sea

Shot on location on Scotland’s west coast, Fire & Salt is a quiet exploration of outdoor cooking, elemental ingredients, and the landscapes that shape them

Shot on the Sony A1 mkII with Sony G-Master lenses and DJI Mavic drone

    The Colour Grade

We wanted the grade to be led by the environment — drawing from the rugged textures and muted tones of Scotland’s west coast to place the viewer right there in the landscape

Inspired by the shifting light of the Sound of Jura and grounded in a subtle film print emulation, the grade reflects the raw, weather-worn character of the surroundings. A restrained, location-led approach that lets the natural palette shape the look.
